Professor Zhang has been engaged in the research field of Engineering Education and Public Policy in China since 1990s. As a consultant in the Department of Comprehensive Reform of the Ministry of Education, Professor Zhang does actively facilitate the reform of interdisciplinary academic organizations in the universities, and the promotion of research and practices in the Emerging Engineering Education (3E). By focusing on engineering education policy and teaching practice, he has published more than 50 academic papers and 3 academic monographs. For rewarding his remarkable contributions, Professor Zhang was elected the first prize of Outstanding Higher Education Research Achievement Award of Zhejiang by the government of Zhejiang Province.
