Our current students are mostly members of the so-called Gen Z and are considered the first true digital natives: from earliest youth, they have been exposed to the internet, social networks, and mobile systems. On the other hand, we, their professors, are members of very different generations. How does this affect the teaching-learning experience, particularly in the engineering discipline? How can we make our teaching practices suitable for this new audience? What should we do to improve their learning experience? During this webinar, we will discuss these questions and try to find proper answers for this New Era that we are facing.
Speaker // Uriel Cukierman
Uriel Rubén Cukierman, MS, PE, Ing.Paed.IGIP h.c. is the Associate Director of InnovaHiEd. Also, VP of Capacity Building and Former President of IFEES, and Director of the Center for Educational Research and Innovation at the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN) in Argentina. He has also been appointed as Research Professor at the University of New Mexico, USA. He has served as the Dean of Engineering at the Universidad de Palermo, Argentina and, previously, as the Information & Communications Technologies Secretary at UTN for more than 15 years. He has also been the Director of the Electronic Department at the ORT Secondary Private School and the Director of the Learning Technologies degree at UTN. Recently awarded as “Distinguished Educator” by the IOEM, “Honorary Professor” by the Universidad Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru and International Engineering Educator Honoris Causa by IGIP (Austria). Professor Cukierman has contributed to the National Universities Network as a member of its Administrating Committee and has worked as consultant for the National Communication Secretary and National Education Ministry in projects for distance learning and reducing the digital divide. Taught at the university level for over thirty-five years in electronics, computing, multimedia and learning technologies. He has served as a lecturer in seminars, courses and other specialized activities throughout Argentina and around the world. Wrote and published several original technical documents in different newspapers, journals and magazines in Argentina and in other countries. Produced three books about Learning Technologies and Engineering Education, one of which was published by Pearson. Authored five book chapters and more than 50 technical papers in refereed journals and conferences (www.cukierman.name; www.innovahied.com).
