Robert J. Muscat is a development economist. He has served with the US Agency for International Development (for several years as Chief Economist), the World Bank, UN agencies, and as an advisor to foreign governments. For a number of years he lived and worked in Thailand, Malaysia, Kenya and Brazil, in addition to shorter assignments in many other countries. He has long focused on problems of conflict in developing countries. Muscat is a board member of Global Peace Services – USA (GPS), an organization promoting peace education and skills training. He obtained an MS degree in journalism and his PhD in economics, both from Columbia University. He and his wife Juliette live in Sarasota, Florida.
