In 2013, Arizona State University’s (ASU) Electrical Engineering program became the first bachelor’s level ABET-accredited engineering program to be available 100% online. In this live virtual event, Stephen Phillips, Professor and Director of the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at ASU, will discuss online delivery strategies used in the program as well as highlight lessons learned and specific techniques that can be used by faculty looking to convert to online delivery.

Stephen M. Phillips earned the BS degree (Cornell University) and the MS and PhD degrees (Stanford University) in electrical engineering. He has served on the faculty at Case Western Reserve University and Arizona State University where he currently leads the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering as its first director.
He was elected president of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Heads Association and has served on its board of directors. He was appointed by the IEEE to the ABET board of directors and currently serves on the ABET board of delegates. He is a professional engineer registered in Ohio and has served as a program evaluator for ABET. He led the development of the online delivery of the first ABET-accredited engineering undergraduate program be recognized as 100% online.
His teaching and research interests include modeling and implementation of control systems and microsystems as well as web-delivered engineering education, its assessment and impact on student access and learning.
