Industry 4.0 represents the fourth industrial revolution that is transforming manufacturing, technology, economics, jobs and even society itself.  This creates a unique opportunity for greater partnerships between industry and universities in key areas of research and study such as IoT and Deep Learning.   How do we prepare students to tackle these challenges and provide industry with the talent and tools needed to transform their businesses?  This session explores best practices and examples of industry/university partnerships to accelerate discovery and learning for Industry 4.0.

As the tidal wave from the new industry renaissance shakes business across the globe, the question of academia developing the workforce of the future presents a challenge for institutions and educators. The quality of inter-activities between universities and businesses are gravitating to propose organizational and educational responses that are relevant to graduate the next generations of engineers who will conduct the transformation in the industry of the future. This presentation relies upon finding the European Union study “Eugene”, in which the author provided the work package entitled Curriculum Responsiveness to Employability Requirements and provides an inventory of good practices to continuously adapt the curriculum to employability. It also develops a series of observations in ways to collaboratively construct curricula that will provide students with attitudes and aptitudes they need to possess and master the fundamentally digital nature of upcoming industry practices.
