IFEES President Michael Auer and WFEO President Marlene Kanga Sign the MoU
On March 7th, IFEES, in collaboration with the GEDC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) in Paris. The MoU solidifies an agreement between the organizations to promote cooperation in joint promotion of activities designed to provide independent and international recognized actions on engineering education. The MoU was signed by IFEES President Michael Auer and WFEO President Marlene Kanga. GEDC Chair Natacha DePaola and IFEES Secretary General Hans Jürgen Hoyer also participated in the proceedings.
The organizations plan to setup joint working groups to exchange experiences between accreditation bodies and the efficiency of engineering education standards globally and to review measures of engineering education capacity building in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Furthermore, the MoU creates opportunities for joint projects and events related to the development, support, and promotion of engineering education. Furthermore, joint activities include sustaining the environment; improving engineering, sciences and technology awareness in the general public and improving the image of engineering and technological sciences in general.
IFEES and the WFEO will seek opportunities to cooperate in the preparation of policy statements in their shared areas of expertise which may be made available to national and international organizations to inform them and others of important issues relevant to humanity.
Established in 1968 under the auspices of UNESCO, the WFEO is an international, non-governmental organization representing the engineering profession worldwide. The WFEO brings together national engineering organizations from over 90 nations and represents 20 million engineers from around the world. To learn more about the WFEO, visit WFEO.org.
