Student Representative

Biography

Master’s student in Environmental Engineering with majors in Environmental and Civil Engineering and a minor in Biodiversity studies and Environmental science at Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. With a great interest in sustainability, climate change adaptation, risk assessment, and engineering education. I’m the current President of the Student Platform for Engineering Education Development (SPEED) and have been a member since 2015, where I was a participant of the 11th Global Student Forum (GSF) in Florence. I have experience as an Ed. Content officer and facilitator from the 12th GSF in Seoul. I served as Educational Content VP in 2017 and 2018 leading both the Kuala Lumpur and Albuquerque’s GSF educational content, before assuming the current presidency. Along with this, I am a Climate Reality Leader, a well-being ambassador, and a graduate teaching assistant.

Rationale

In 2015 I was able to find my passion thanks to SPEED’s GSF and IFEES’ WEEF held in Florence, Italy. Engineering Education connected me much more to Engineering when I was able to identify that students can, and should, have a voice in their education, instead of being just mere recipients in the process. As the current president of SPEED, it has been my goal to create a global and diverse network of engineering students empowered to have a voice and influence their educational processes and their peers. I would like to be IFEES’ Student Affairs VP to further reach out to connect students from every member organization and expose them to the world of Engineering Education.
