This event aims to provide new elements on strategies for approaching the productive sector to promote innovation and interdisciplinary exercise to work with communities in a new scenario of the country in times of post-conflict and recognition of the importance of international accreditation. This activity starts at 1:30 p.m. \nForum-Workshop “Engineering students and their social commitment” is aimed at engineering students. SUMMARY:National Effective Teaching Institutes (ASEE)
DESCRIPTION:The basic National Effective Teaching Institute (NETI-1) is a three-day workshop given twice a year. It is intended to give the participants information and some hands-on practice in the elements of effective teaching—course planning\, lecturing\, active learning\, assessment of learning\, and dealing with a variety of problems that commonly arise in the life of a faculty member. The workshop is also intended to provide new faculty with tips on getting their careers off to a good start and experienced faculty with instructional materials and methods that they can use in faculty development and new faculty mentoring programs on their own campuses.  Experienced faculty who are nominated should therefore be among the better teachers on their campuses\, as opposed to teachers having problems and seeking assistance. In a major survey of NETI-1 alumni\, a significant number of past participants reported that the workshop had a positive effect on both their students’ learning and their student evaluations. \nEvery January (for NETI-1A) and May (for NETI-1B)\, engineering deans are invited to nominate up to two faculty members from their campuses. Nominees should have at least one semester of teaching experience prior to attending. Nominations are accepted on a first-come first-served basis up to a maximum of 50. The deans are expected to pay their nominees’ expenses\, which include travel\, subsistence\, and the $1\,150 NETI-1 registration fee. DESCRIPTION:Engineering Education for Innovation and Entrepreneurship\nThe Global Engineering Education Leader Conference (GEELeC) 2016 is organized by SUSTech in collaboration with the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC)\, the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES) and the UNESCO Center for Higher Education Innovation\, it was hosted in the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Futian Shangri-La\, Shenzhen\, China on December 5 to 7\, 2016. \nThe purpose of the conference is to promote international collaborations among institutions of higher education worldwide to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship in engineering\, the theme of the conference is “Engineering Education for Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. \nFull program and photos from the conference are available here (external link).

DESCRIPTION:The Changing Role of the Engineering Educator for developing the Future Engineer\nAAEE2016 is being hosted by Southern Cross University and will be held in Coffs Harbour\, Australia\, on 4-7 December 2016. \nThe Organising Committee has chosen the Novotel Pacific Bay Resort at Coffs Harbour as the conference venue for AAEE2016\, situated on the East Coast of Australia and surrounded by ocean\, mountains\, natural forest and banana plantations. The Coffs Harbour Campus of Southern Cross University is a short drive away\, with its National Marine Science Centre a short walk from the venue. \nSince its first offering in 1989\, the AAEE conference series has grown into a well-respected and well-known forum aimed to promote scholarship in engineering education and to facilitate the dissemination of best practices throughout the engineering education community. \nHistorically\, AAEE has generally themed conference events and for 2016 the theme is ‘The Changing Role of the Engineering Educator for developing the Future Engineer’.
