Adam Carberry

Adam R. Carberry is an Associate Professor in The Polytechnic School within Arizona State University’s Fulton Schools of Engineering. His primary areas of expertise and interest within the broad discipline of engineering education include: 1) developing new classroom innovations and assessment techniques and 2) identifying new ways to empirically understand how engineering students and educators learn.

Prior to coming to ASU, he briefly worked at Sikorsky Aircraft before joining the Tufts’ Center for Engineering Education and Outreach. There he managed the Student Teacher Outreach Mentorship Program (STOMP) where he received the Tufts University Presidential Award for Citizenship and Public Service. He has facilitated and lead LEGO-based outreach opportunities for K-12 teachers, students, and FIRST LEGO League coaches since 2005 all around the world. He has served in many volunteer roles through the American Society for Engineering Education and is currently the chair of the Research in Engineering Education Network (REEN) governing board.

Carberry earned a B.S. in Materials Science Engineering from Alfred University, and received his M.S. and Ph.D., both from Tufts University, in Chemistry and Engineering Education respectively. He is an avid New England sports fan and  plays for multiple Ultimate Frisbee teams. He lives in Phoenix, Arizona and was married to his wife in May 2018.
